Many of you already know that I took 7 months off last year traveling to Taiwan, Hong Kong and China. I brought back some treasures and souvenirs that I sold on the Internet. I believe that is the easiest way to make money online.
This year, my wife and I decide to do it again. We decided to visit some famous Jewelry wholesale mall to find the interesting stuff that we can bring back and sell on eBay or my own e-commerce sites. It’s our 2007 treasure hunting tour.
Guangzhou is well known as the wholesale city of everything “Made In China.” There are many huge plazas or malls that are occupied by different manufactures. Many of them are just for Jewelry, cloths, shoes and so on. We are specifically interested in the Jewelry that is unique and good quality.
There are so many types of Jewelry stores. Some of them are huge. They have over 100K items for you to choose from. It took us two days to visit every single store in just one of the building. You can negotiate the price with the store. That’s why you have to visit as many stores as you can to find the best deal.
It’s amazing that how many foreigners came to Guangzhou to find the treasures. Would you like to find some of the treasure by yourself? If you want to sell on eBay and import items by yourself, you need to visit Guangzhou as your staring point. You can get very good deal without the drop shipper middle man.
So what do I get? I have to keep it as a secret for now.
If you are interested in make money online with eBay or your own e-commerce store, feel free to contact me. It’s time to take a rest for tomorrow. After all, I have walked a lot in the past few days. It’s a good exercise to lose some weight.

Yeah, I agree that China has a lot of “treasures”. I have been asking my friends in China, particularly in GuangZhou to help me find the things that I wanted to sell online. Although there’s many “gems” there but one must always be carefully when dealing with the people over there especially when you are not able to be there yourself. Don’t over rely on them.
@Tommy:
You are right. You have to be very careful when choose the goods “Made in China.” There are many high quality products and also many fake one. That’s why I came to Guangzhou myself. I have to see it and pick the goods myself the first time. Once the business relationship is connected, the rest will be easier.
Hey Terence,
Haven’t seen you for awhile at BC. I guess you’re enjoying your trip.
When I was in Beijing, I met a Chinese travelling all the way from Taiwan to buy goods (furr) for his online business. And he’s earning good money from it.
Enjoy your trip. Cheers!
Terence, come back soon with my jewelery! (hehe)
I’m glad you and your wife are having an amazing journey and I’m sure when you get back home you’ll be all the wiser. Right?
@Rocky
Sorry. I have not joined the discussion on BlogCatalog for a while. Since I am in China, I have only limited access to the Internet. Many of my favorite blog sites are blocked or very slow. Sites like Technorati are not accessible from here. That’s very bad. Yeah. “Made in China” products are pretty much taking over out life, but I hate those people killing animals for profit.
PS. I like your new interface. Looks great!
@Stacey:
Yes. We are having some serious fun here. I have learned a lot about doing business in China in two weeks. I am one small step closer to my goal.
I will be back to US in late September. I have a lot of work to do when I come back, but I love to work hard after play hard.
I will contact you offline when I come back. Take a good care!
Terence,
Do you use Firefox? Download Tor and install it, then get either the Torbutton or FoxyProxy Firefox extensions and you’ll have access to the blocked sites (although it’s pretty slow). Other alternatives are to use an online anonymous proxy like http://www.anonymouse.org (faster than Tor, but you can’t login to some sites).
That’s how I survive here in China! Hope you are having a great time – seems like you are!
Had a partner who travelled to guangzhou to buy turquoise, jade and coral to resell in bead shows in the USA. I think he lied to me about the cost and the competition at the shows was huge. But id like to buy and resell online. Im looking for someone honest to buy wholesale from.
@Charles:
It’s too sad, but it’s the fact. It’s hard to find true honest business partners in China. Many of them just want to make some quick money. They don’t really see the long term relationship. The competition in the gem stones and jewelry business are huge.
The good thing about this competition is that you can always find a cheaper supplier. The downside is the time spent to find the right supplier.
Contact me off line, if you are interested in deeper conversation about your buying intention. Thanks!
Terrance, please email me if you can buy bead strands at deep discounts and ship to the USA. I would be buying 10,000 us dollars at a time if the price is right. Looking
to buy turquoise, jade, coral, pearls, glass bead strands (1000 ea type). Thank you.
@Charles:
Thank you for visit. I already sent you a personal email. Looking forward to hearing from you!
