"Office-365"

Recently, I decided to pay for Microsoft Office 365 Personal Edition. Google Drive is no longer my favorite tool for my day to day operation. Well. Dropbox don’t even stand a chance. The main reason to make the switch is that Microsoft Office 365 offer better solution with unlimited space for the cheaper price.

Don’t get me wrong. I am a big Google Fan. I pretty much use Google for everything. I’ve been using Google Drive for a very long time. Not to mention that I am also a Google Maps Certified Business Photographer. So I use a lot of disk space on Google Drive to store my photos, gmail attachment and documents.

I haven’t had needs to use full 15GB disk space on Google, but I do need a full featured Word Document, Excel Sheet, and now OneNote. I use Microsoft OneNote to replace Google’s Keep. OneNote has more rich feature and can be sync through my desktop, browser and even on my Nexus5 Android phone.

Here are the reasons why I make the switch.

  1. Microsoft office 365 offers the most feature rich Office suite. Google Drive’s ExcelSheet can’t handle macro script to do some complicate tasks. Google drive also can’t open some very old version Word Document.

  2. Microsoft has OneDrive nicely integrates with Desktop Document, Photos, Camera Backup and OUTlook. So I can easily access and sync my files between devices.

  3. With Microsoft Office 365 Personal Subscription, I pay $70/year for unlimited storage (currently 10TB). Google Drive will cost me $120/year for just 1TB space. Notes: Microsoft Office 365 will give you default 1TB disk space. However, you can request to get unlimited space for no extra charge.

    "OneDrive-10TB"

The most important part is that I can now backup my full laptop harddrive and all my projects securely. At moment, it is still syncing my 230GB data to OneDrive. I don’t think I will ever use full 10TB and more, because I will need a harddrive that is larger than 10TB. It’s just a peace of mind.

One other reason to make the switch is that I also get Free 60 minutes of Skype calling credit, which I use to call my family in Taiwan.

If you are a solo entrepreneur, smooth your day to day operation is very important. With Microsoft Office 365 + OneDrive, I get more than what I paid for. Period.
