Few days ago, a friend of mine named Mark Hayward, posted a great question on his blog at “The Cat Is Outta The Bag – How Top Bloggers Divide Their Time For Maximum Exposure.” The post contains few high profile bloggers, including me, with one question to ask.

How do you divide your time between search engine optimization (SEO), social media, and interacting with readers?

Thank Mark for considering me as one of the high profile blogger. This question got me thinking about how I divide my time on blogging and my online business. It’s also a great question for everyone to think about the time we spent in our life.

Does the time we spent on do any good to our dream and life?

These were my answers:

• since I have other online business to run, I try not to spend too much time on blogging and social networking
• I spend 2 hours creating my blog post including on-site SEO
• and 2 hours on reading people’s blog posts and about 2 hours on social networking
• I try to spend 8 hours a day on my own business

After reading the great book The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich, I start re-thinking about the same question and all the answers. I think all of us are working too hard in the blogging world. I really think we all need to work smarter and work less hours. I start asking myself a question. Do you work like an entrepreneur or a dreamer? I realized that I have wasted a lot of time on the Internet, which gets me no where near my dream. I have once again changed my blog tag line to “Work Like An Entrepreneur & Play Like A Billionaire.” That exactly describes what my dream might be. I don’t have to be very very super rich, but I want to enjoy my life like a billionaire does.

This is all happening in one night. I think I have been working too hard and not working smarter enough. I work almost 14 hours a day and still not even close to my dream. I have to make changes dramatically.

What if I can work 16 hours a week or even 8 hours a week and can still travel around the world and do my charity work the same time? Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

I have to work smarter and spend less time on the Internet doing useless things. I don’t think I will give up blogging, because that is fun entertainment to me. However, I will change my strategy to focus on making more profit in less working hours.

I believe everyone can do the same. I would like to ask my readers serious questions.

Are you an entrepreneur or dream catcher? Do you ever dream to build a vacation house on the top of the cliff facing the ocean? Do you want to drink your hot coffee in the morning while enjoying the beautiful view? Do you feel that you have to work harder and save your money for retirement?

I felt the same as you do almost two years ago until I quit my job and working on my own. Now I realize that I am still working 14 hours everyday. Nothing has changed, except working at different location and boss. That doesn’t make my life easier as my own boss. My dream is still far away from reality. I post “2007 Yearly Review – Is my success predictable?” few days ago. I set my goals to work harder and smarter. I guess I was wrong.

Work smarter, but not harder! I want to work only 4 hours a week and spend the rest of week enjoy life like a billionaire. I don’t have to be rich, but I want to live like a richer.

Working on my own does not mean that I will live in better life and get closer to my dream. So I have to make changes. What’s the point to work 14 hours as an Internet Entrepreneur, while I dream to travel around the world with my wife. I just recently discover the book that I have seen many times on other review sites or blogs. I should buy this book two years ago. I went to book store and bought it last night and started reading. The author was doing exactly what I am thinking to do, but I never have the guts to do.

Now I think that you need to also buy this book, if you have dream life to live on.

This year, my wife and I decide to do it again. We decided to visit some famous Jewelry wholesale mall to find the interesting stuff that we can bring back and sell on eBay or my own e-commerce sites. It’s our 2007 treasure hunting tour.

Guangzhou is well known as the wholesale city of everything “Made In China.” There are many huge plazas or malls that are occupied by different manufactures. Many of them are just for Jewelry, cloths, shoes and so on. We are specifically interested in the Jewelry that is unique and good quality.

There are so many types of Jewelry stores. Some of them are huge. They have over 100K items for you to choose from. It took us two days to visit every single store in just one of the building. You can negotiate the price with the store. That’s why you have to visit as many stores as you can to find the best deal.

It’s amazing that how many foreigners came to Guangzhou to find the treasures. Would you like to find some of the treasure by yourself? If you want to sell on eBay and import items by yourself, you need to visit Guangzhou as your staring point. You can get very good deal without the drop shipper middle man.

So what do I get? I have to keep it as a secret for now.

Here comes my last update!

I am flying from Phoenix to LA, and then take 16 hours flight to Taiwan. I will take two hours break and transfer flight to Hong Kong. We will arrival at Hong Kong on August 9th, 2007. The total flight time will be very close to 24 hours. I will stay in Hong Kong for few days and head to China after that. I don’t know where I will be going in China. That’s the fun part. We stay at one place as long as we desired. No plan!

I will carry the following stuff as you can see in the pictures.

1. Two empty luggage. I bet I will bring much more Travel Souvenirs back. I will leave the luggage in Hong Kong.
2. Backpack for two – Just one backpack for two. We try to carry as less as possible. Make it very light weight. So we can move fast when we need. It’s tough to carry a lot to catch the crowed train.
3. One computer backpack – I hope I can get online and update my photos and blog. Or I can just work on my blog off-line, and upload them when I get Internet access.
4. One light weight backpack - Carry my Nikon D70S digital camera, fresh light, Garmin GPS, batteries, cell phone charger and water, etc.
5. Some gifts – Some gifts for my friends in China.
6. Nikon D70S digital camera and fresh light – I can’t travel without taking photos.
7. Gadgets – Cell phone, charger, Garmin GPS and many other gadgets. However, I am not going to take my iPod with me. It’s too heavy. What’s the point to listen to it while I want to enjoy my trip?
8. Tripod – I am still not sure if I will bring the tripod for my Nikon D70s. I will know at the last minute.
9. Cloths – We only bring three pairs of easy dry shirt and pants. One pare of hiking shoes. Some disposable underwear. It has to be light weight.
10. Lots of cash – That’s why I have to work so hard. It’s time to enjoy my souvenir shopping. It’s a treasure hunting trip!
11. Passport – Can’t really travel without it.

So what else do I have beside the travel?

1. Alexa Traffic Ranking – The most current Alexa Traffic Ranking is 143,085.
2. RSS feed subscriber - The most current number of my RSS subscriber is 53.
3. Fixed some broken house items – There is no surprise that something went broke before my travel. My toilet was broken; my backyard sprinkler system was broken. I have to fix those at last minutes. Well. It better broke now that later.
4. Vacation Watch - I have the local police department aware of my long vacation. They will watch my house every week.
5. Friend Watch – I have my friend come over and check the water system, electric system everyday. So I don’t really worry about my house.
6. Empty refrigerator – I have been eating a lot for the past week. I have to clean all the left-over. I guess! I have to give away some nice fruits to my friends.
7. Discountinue cable and Internet – Call Qwest to disconnect cable TV and Internet. So we don’t have to pay full amount of monthly fee while we are away. Just leave the phone on.

I have been traveled a lot in the past few years. It’s always something come up before we take off. There is just tons stuff to do before travel. I think I got everything under my control.
