It’s been 3+ years since I started my project in 2009. I have been doing just OK. Now with the new marketing strategy and social media on the rise, Internet business is shifting again. I guess it’s time to make change and shift my focus to new trend.
This chart basically says this. “My prime time is over“!
The sudden revenue and traffic drop in the past 7 days triggers the alert. I should pay more attention and do market analysis every month. Sadly, I did not.
Based on all the evidences from Google Insights, Google Analytics, Google AdWords and Google AdSense, the industry I am in is dying. I mean the entire industry is going down hill. You may also notice that the competition is also NOT doing so well. The red line is getting flatter and flatter.
This is a sign of consumer fatigue and over saturated industry. My industry is even going below where it started in 2009. That’s not looking good at all. Although, I had good run so far this year until 7 days ago, I don’t see the brighter future with this industry. I may still do OK with the industry, but it won’t take me to my goal any time sooner. It will simply slow down and drag me with it. I don’t want to be buried with it either.
It’s time to change! As entrepreneur, I have to learn how to exit. I will need to slowly pull myself out of the mess. It’s a really tough decision to make and hard to just quit something you’ve spent years to build up and hoping it will come back up.
Now the question is what will I do? I really don’t know at this point! One thing for sure is that I will still be doing Internet business.
I am very interested to see what you will do next. Also it would be nice to know what industry you are in that is dying…

@Phil:
Well. I will NOT stop running the current project, which you know what I do. I will just need to think about what to do next. Hope I don’t repeat the same thing over and over again.

Hi Terence,
Is your domain name based on your main keywords? If you had a sudden drop in traffic about 7 or 8 days ago, it may be because of the EMD (Exact Match Domains) update to Google’s algorithm around June 29.
Josh Spaulding talks about it on his site.
My Jobs in China site got hit by that and fell from about number 3 to about number 13. Very little traffic now…
@Stephen:
Long time no see. Haven’t seen you for a while.
My traffic drop is primary due to the penguin update. I believe my site was optimized too perfectly. It’s also due to more competition joining into the game.
I’ve also done some changes on the site to use better link structure. It doesn’t hurt my previous page ranking, but I believe it will come back up soon. Only time will tell.
Good luck to your Jobs In China site. I can still see in on the first page of Google from here.
