Work Hard & Play Hard - My confession of guiltiness
Motivation, Entrepreneur March 5th, 2008Image Source: Native Bee
Time goes by so fast. It’s already a week since my last post about Are you capable standing out from the crowd? I finally came back from my 3 months travel to Taiwan. I was used to the biological clock in Taiwan. Now I have to adjust my time for the Phoenix Sunny day. I am a little bit tired in the past few days. That doesn’t mean that I did not make any progress on my business or the new blog adventure.
I have a life to live on!
I was so addicted to blogging and stumbling great photos in the past few days. I worked very hard and was sitting in the StarBucks in Taipei Taiwan. I was also planning my new business model. I was also having some great time to spend with my almost 80 years old parents. Now I have traveled very far and back home.
I felt guilty!
I was unable to post more in the past few days due to my busy schedule. Yeah. That was not the excuse of my guiltiness. I felt guilty because I was away from home and my primary business for 3 months. I felt guilty to leave my wife at home alone. Although I felt guilty about my absent, she was very happy enjoying time without me. !@#S#@!
I have excuses not to post anything on this blog, which make some of my readers wondering around.
- Working on adjust my jet lag.
- Clean up my yard, this has grown into a gigantic weeds museum.
- Spending wonderful time with my lovely wife, who was left behind at home for 3 months.
- Making new blog that bring the joy to the world. The happiest blog at Smiles That Make My Day.
- Pay my bills, read junk mails
I have made some progress on my things and more on my primary business. It’s time to get back on track and do what I have to do.
Work Hard and Play Hard!
Just like my blog tag line says. I want to make good living by working very hard, I also want to enjoy my life and play very hard. To get back on my previous fancy life style, I have to get back to the way I live as consultant.
- Spend more time with wife
- Work out in the morning
- Eat less but healthy
- Go hiking over weekend
- Watch DVD at home. My old but nice 5.1 channel audio system has been silent for a long time
- Do all the yard work
- Get back to BBQ schedule. I have not had home made BBQ salmon for a long time
- Shopping for cool gadgets
- Watch NASCAR racing
- Take my SUV off road
That’s all about play hard. I guess I have to evaluate my progress before I can do all that. I have to work hard.
- Need to lost few pounds
- Need to work only 8 hours a day. Work smarter!
- Get my blog traffic boost again
- Get the happiest blog in the world out to the public
- Restructure my business strategies to boost sales
- Making the lemon juice for my new business and bake the bread for the profit
I feel energized. There are some obstacles in front of me, but I am exciting to jump over them. Life is not all about making money or blogging, but also about enjoying healthy and happy life.
I felt guilty to walk away from my office desk for 3 months, but I am exciting to come back with more energy. I think that taking some time off can actually make more progress.

I’ve learned pretty quickly that blogging can wait, and life can’t. Get out there and enjoy the things that you are doing, before you aren’t able to do them anymore.

@Bryan:

Thank you for visiting. Life is very short. Enjoying your life is what all your life about. It’s not for working for sure!
@Bryan:
Thank you for coming back! I was wondering what you are up to with your Internet adventure. Your blog doesn’t tell me anything more than your coming book. Just wondering how your niche sites are doing?
@Stacey:
I have been very busy in the past few days cranking up my happiest blog. It took me a lot of time to get my collections of smiles up. It’s been a great experience and it keeps me happy everyday so far! Thank you for the support!

Hey Terence, Welcome back from your trip. This blog in my link is my second blog. Please email me back if you have a few minutes to chat about some ideas.
I can feel your pain of travelling. I travel to Asia atleast once a year and it really takes the life out of me.

The niche sites are doing great. I have 38 of them now… about half of them haven’t achieved any real results yet because they hit the google sandbox rather quickly. The other half range from $5 to $80 per month in Adsense income, and they serve the double purpose of building a list for various niches out there that I can pitch products to later.
It’s pretty profitable for something that isn’t very time consuming!
March 11th, 2008 at 7:48 am
@Ajay:
Sorry .. I could not remember your other link. You know where to contact me. Shoot me email about your idea. I love travel, but I am just getting tired.
I think it has something to do with my age ..
@Bryan:
That sounds great! I am glad that you are making more than I do on the blog.
How come it’s not time consuming to manage 38 niche sites? Are you doing some automatically script to grab content?
March 11th, 2008 at 8:35 am
This is my first visit to you blog. I am glad I saw your avatar on my Mybloglog page otherwise I may not have stumble upon you. I have often wondered if I could walk away from my blog for an extended period of time, and the answer for me right now is no. March 13th, 2008 at 7:12 am
Terence,
I understand the jetlag problem. Overcoming jetlag can be hard for me but easier for my husband.
The beauty of being your own boss (an entrepreneur) enables you to leave your work desk empty for 3 months. That’s really nice. You have a good plan to balance work and play. Thanks for sharing.
LOL, your wife enjoy her own time doing things she like without you which is a healthy separation.
March 13th, 2008 at 7:29 am
@Sebastian:
You got that right. Blogging is to relax and enjoy your time in front of computer. It’s not a day to day job. I blog for fun. Enjoy our life is the top priority. Thank you for stopping by.
@ChiQ Montes:
Just to make sure that you are smarter than yesterday and don’t make the same mistake. Of course, it’s easier say than done, it takes time to build up your intelligent.
Thank you for visiting.
@Jesie:
I think I finally got my biology clock corrected. I don’t have this problem after 7 months traveling to China in 2006. I think my age issues starts kicking in.
After all, it’s so nice to come home with wife stand beside me.
It’s mutual, I got to do something on my own without wife to be a back seat driver!

No need to feel guilty for letting your work fall back a few days to rest your mind and body, like you say, work hard and play hard.
If you are pondering your work at a deeper level you will have a plan and be able to get ‘er done efficiently once you do get back to work.
Great to see you back, by the way, although I can’t imagine why you’d return to Phoenix just in time for the hot summer.
March 20th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
@Easy Witchcraft:
Thank you! Well. I love hot summer. I am very out door type of person. I hate raining day. Yeah. It’s very hot in Phoenix, but most of the time we just commute between our garage, home, car and shopping mall. They all have air condition. We camp at high country, which is much cooler too.
I may have another trip to Hong Kong later this year, which will be very nasty. The weather over their is just hot and humid.

Terence… it’s been a while since you blogged this post. I hope you are still going to be blogging, as I’ve enjoyed reading your posts. And as a fellow Internet Entrepreneur, I can sympathize with choosing working hard versus playing hard. Jump back in the saddle! You can succeed with continuous effort in this blogging game
