@Dining Tables:

I just saw the news about that. I have a fear about the merger regardless who merge Yahoo. I am afraid of that some great technology behind Yahoo will be destroyed. There are too many competitive services Yahoo, MS and Google. I can't imagine MS close out Yahoo Messenger and Phone Out services, because they are much better than MS Live. I can't imagine Google close out Yahoo Mail, which is much better than GMail in my personal opinions.

I think it will change my Internet life for sure. I rely on Yahoo too much. I guess. :-)

@Champ Dog:

In my personal experience, the first thing after merger of two corporations are the lay-off. Many employees will be laid-off to cut the cost of the business operation. So whatever services was not making good money will be closed out regardless the technology used behind the scene.

Personally, I think Yahoo Messenger which also useful for Yahoo Phone out will be closed. I am also afraid that Yahoo GUI programming module will also be closed. There are just some services that were created to test out the new technology, but were not making good profit to Yahoo. Those services may just be closed.

@Insurance Quotes:

You are right on the trimming of the dead weight. That's what I am afraid of. I don't think Yahoo Phone is making a huge profit to yahoo, but they are one of the best services I used almost everyday. The Free Unlimited Yahoo Mail may become the next victim of the merger. Will M$ convert live mail user or hot mail user to Yahoo Mail? Will Google convert Gmail user to Yahoo Mail? I doubt.

@CatherineL:

When Yahoo close their own Yahoo Photo and asked member to convert to Flickr, I was worried that they will do something bad with Flickr. Obviously, they did not. Flick has since been better. I don't know what will happen if Google merge Yahoo. Will Google close Flickr and force everyone to use Picasa?

That will be nightmare.

@LouCypher:

Thank you for stopping by. I don't use social bookmarking that much anymore. Unless Del.icio.us can make some great profit, it will be closed soon.

I didn't realise Yahoo owned Flickr. And I would also be v disappointed to see it go. Where would we get pics for our blogs?

Your logo is absolutely brilliant by the way.

Considering the enormous investment into Yahoo, the last thing I would think Microsoft would do is start creating brand haters for both businesses. It would not make sense to do so. But, I guess a part of any acquisition is the trimming of the dead weight.

I think it shouldn't that bad right? Even though MS acquire YM, the one who implement stuff are still from ex-yahoo right? I think we will still able to enjoy all the Yahoo services if this really happens.

Not to worry Terrence, Google and Yahoo are talking about ganging up together to take on MS. Now that will be an interesting development! I wonder what you think of that marriage?
