Many my readers are seriously about making money on the Internet with their own business strategies. So do I. I have been involved in online e-commerce stores for sometime. I run my own business for few years now. As an online retailer and moving forward to a drop shipper, building a closer relationship with my business partners becomes one of the most important tasks in my business plan.
Without a close relationship with your business partners and even your potential competitors, you will miss some important opportunities to stand in front of them. Business is Business. Many people build relationship based on the profit and lost. When they make money, they are very good buddies. When they lost, they face off.
Building a business relationship sometimes is harder than loving your other half. There is love between you and your lovely one. Business relationship has no love. It’s solely based on one simple goal. Make profit! Without the love, a business relationship won’t last too long, if the interests on both sides are fading out. So the question is how to keep this close relationship without love?
Building a better relationship with my suppliers is one of my top priorities. I could not tell you how success I have done building relationship with my business partners in the past, but I can tell you that they keeps coming back to me with more business opportunities.
Before making the connection to a new business partners, I always do my research about my partners. I will ask few questions to myself before calling them.
- What can I offer to my new business partners?
- What are the best things they do?
- What are their weakest points?
- Who are their competitors?
I don’t always get the answers right away, but I, at least, know what information I will be collecting while dealing with them.
Building a close relationship in the blogging world may be different, but the concept is the same. I believe one thing that will make your a successful business man in any field.
Give before you take!
Do not think about what your can get in return at first place. In the blogging world, we all know giving good quality content will attract more readers to stay and coming back. Give away a link love will get you some attention. Leave comment to introduce you. It’s all about “Give before you take.”
I apply this concept into my online business as well. I gave a lot of stuff.
- I give away good quality products.
- I give huge discount.
- I give free samples.
- I give credit to my suppliers.
- I give recommendation to my competitors.
- I give business opportunities to my supplier by referring other clients.
- I give my helping hand on other things not related to my business.
- I give my personal warm heart without giving out my private life.
This is just the beginning of making connection. There are a more tasks to do to build solid foundation.
In the business, you will end up finding that “It’s a small world!”
To be continue …

It’s an interesting concept you have here… (damn I am facinated to see my text twice and how it will look like when I am finished)… it’s important to give when you want to take. It’s good to go ahead an offer the people what they want then they will give you freely what you want. Simple concept great win win situation.

@Sven:
Thanks! Your blog seem very interesting to me. Will read more about your post. I am not a surfer, because I am afraid of water. I will give you some of my opinions about your blog later. I will subscribe to your blog too.

There are two issues here Terence. One, as long as you are the business, it is fairly simple to build relationship as, your clients/customers are doing business with a person. When you start to grow and have employees handling some of the things that you are now doing, that is when the problem starts. Unless they too are trained to think, and more importantly feel like you do about your clients/customers, they will not give the kind of dignity that the client/customer should automatically command. It is however possible to recruit the right type of people and train them, given enough enthusiasm for that kind of activity.
I have seen many entrepreneurs flop because they did not think that it was necessary to recruit the right kind of people and train them before letting them loose on clients/customers. If you like, this could be taken further depending on how you react to my comments.

@Dining Tables:
Very well! You got to the right points. If you ever read the following book, it actually put “WHO” before “WHAT.”
I think the right person to hire is more important than hiring the wrong person doing the right thing.
Great thanks!

Don’t be afraid of the water, be afraid of waves or sharks
We all should have dreams and my dreams is to own a little house close to a beach and to be able to surf whenever I want. Nothing out of reach I hope…as long as the ocean’s don’t dry out.

@Sven:
You are right. The worst nightmare is probably the dry ocean. I am sure your dream will come true one day.
