Were you away from blogging in the past few days due to the holiday and with any other excuses? I have been busy in the past few days for my brother’s wedding and other stuff. I have not post anything since Dec 21st. I have just received an email from my reader at Steve’s Blog of the Web asking me why I have not post anything in the past few days.

I admit that I am not doing a good job keeping my editorial calendar. I have been very busy preparing my brother’s wedding and dealt with fashion jewelry manufactures. It’s been busy weeks before the end of year 2007. Keep blog schedule is not an easy job. Especially, it’s not your primary job and income source.

In the past few weeks, I really enjoyed stay with my parents and attend my brother’s wedding. Meet with some old classmates, whom I have not seen for 15 years. Deal with jewelry manufactures for my online business.

What I have done is actually building the connections and makes 2008 a better year. While talking with many of my classmates and friends, I realized that many of them are not seeing the bright future for 2008. Personally, I have a lot of work to do to get my business going stronger. What I have learned in the past two years is to see things on the brighter side. If you are thinking negatively, you miss some good points.

It’s like seeing the sun shinning through trees. You are standing in the shadow and not seeing green of the leaves.

I always encourage my friends to think the bright side. Many people have failed and have never being able to come back up is that they don’t see the brighter side of their future.

Here is my suggestion to those who felt down and felt a dark future 2008.

  • Ask yourself what would you like to do in 2008
  • Plan and set the goals
  • Review what you are not doing the best you should have done and find out why

Personally, I see 2008 as a golden year for online e-business. Look at the bright side.

  • China has grown to the world largest consumer goods supplier
  • There are more companies outsourcing their production line to China
  • China has more buying power in 2008 because of the Olympic game.
  • WTO will make trading goods easier than ever before.
  • China’s Internet user population will soon pass USA as the largest Internet usage country. It means more business and more money.

I don’t see any better time to do business online. 2008 will be a brighter year for people who want to make money online. So take your chance and start planning your fortune now.

    Terence,
I’m going to travel extensively after January on my FT job and I’m afraid I will be lagging in blogging too.

You have positive approach to life and business which is very motivational. That keeps you going with more innovative ways to conduct your business.

I have also read some negative economic forecast reports on investment magazines and news.

I personally believe that during the general economic downturn, certain industries are not affected like healthcare and pharmaceuticals. Some industries may do better while others go downhill.
Online business definitely has very great potential but I do not want to keep inventory. The name of the game as you put it before is to find the niche. I haven’t found my niche yet.

Enjoy the great time with your family, friends, classmate reunions and business deals with manufacturers.

    Happy New Year.

    @Jesie:

I am wondering what FT job will make you travel so much! I love travel while working on my own. I wish you the best!

Regardless how worst the economic is going, people will still spend money. As long as there are people buying things, there are business going. Finding a right niche is not easy, but finding something is better than nothing. ;-)

Keep it up! I like your travel photos.

I can forsee as the low season is over, I have to travel to various locations to different companies each week and audit their accounts/businesses. I have a deadline for each audit. Each business/company is just different.

  7. I think that 2008 is going to be a boom year for me too. Many things that I worked on are just nearing completion and fruition and it should be a very good year.

I am happy that you too are optimistic and the reasons given by you are quite logical. I wish you all the best and a very happy and prosperous new year.
