e-commerce, Business November 28th, 2007Many of my viewers are fashion jewelry lovers. Many of you also know that I am the supporter behind ProFashionJewelry.com. While I am preparing my next trip to find the best fashion jewelry for 2008, I am also asking all my viewers, friends, families to provide more suggestions on what people will like to see on the fashion jewelry store for 2008.
My dream of fashion jewelry business is to make high quality fashion jewelry affordable to everyone from everywhere in the world. There may be no free lunch, but there is definitely free fashion jewelry.
Would you like get one for Year 2008?
I have decided to give my viewers free fashion jewelry they like. Please read the post about how to get your free fashion jewelry at Win Free Fashion Jewelry for 2008. It’s a no risk contest. Well. It’s not even a contest, because there is no limitation on how many jewel you can win. The more recommendation you provides, the more you will get. The rule is very simple.
While many other store offering huge selection on fashion jewelry, many of them are actually made in low quality. As much as I dealt with manufactures that made the jewelry, I decided to hand pick all jewelry that I will be selling on my store. This is to ensure that all products are in good shape and good quality.
Anyway, the current 30%-50% price drop plus extra 30% off discount will end soon. Take your chance to get what I have to offer. After that, I will see you next year.

Do you plan on offering rings someday?
Have you thought about adding an option where people don’t have to register in order to make a purchase? I wonder how that is affecting your conversion rate? I know that on many sites, if I have to register in order to make a purchase, I just go elsewhere instead. I don’t like additional hassles. Asking for a date of birth is pretty much a sale-ender too.

Yes. I will have more necklaces, earrings, rings and more. ProFashion Jewelry Store is just one of my e-commerce sites to test out the market. So I only keep small amount in inventory. This is the only store that I have my own inventory. My other stores are all using drop ship.
I want to target the right niche and customers who wants high quality fashion jewelry. The products listed on my store are all hand selected by me to ensure the quality. They will NOT be found anywhere on the Internet. I have the exclusive rights to sell it on the Internet. To be honest, I am new to fashion jewelry industry. So I have researched what people like about jewelry. For me, I can easily find manufacture to produce the products. The difficult part is what to sell.
Yes. I thought about disabling the login features. However, there is no such capability in Zen-Cart (FREE), which I have used for all my stores. My other stores do require user to login in order to be able to track their order history. My customers don’t seem to have problem with login requirement.
Many potential customers left my store before putting item into the cart. They were just searching for products. I do have many customers created account and have never made any purchase. I was wondering why.
How is your store going? What shopping cart are you using? I have not seem your store going public. Have you?

Do you know manufacturers that can do custom jewelry products to your specifications?

That’s odd. I didn’t create an account–maybe there is something in the next step that turns them off. Does it send a confirmation eMail that they must use to authenticate their account before making a purchase? If so, maybe those eMails aren’t getting past their spam filters.
What shopping cart are you using?
I’m coding my own.
I have not seem your store going public. Have you?
Not yet. Inching closer and closer. I’m trying to finish it as quickly as I can, without rushing it. As much as possible, I want it working flawlessly from day one. Fortunately, I am getting some orders from the existing site so things aren’t going terribly bad.

Since I am Chinese, I can easy communicate with manufactures in Taiwan and China. The situation is that there are many manufactures that are willing to make anything for you, as long as you can bring them green ($)!
I don’t sent confirmation email to verify their account. The only thing I can think of is possibly the shipping cost. The shopping cart will recalculate the shipping cost based on their shipping address.
I thought the same way as you do. I try to make my site look just perfect. However, after my few previous stores experience, I don’t wait until the site is fully completed in design. As long as the order process is fully working, I have the site up and submit it to search engines. It will take a while to get your new store indexed by search engines.

That’s the way I did it previously, and the end result is a bunch of pages, not all of which match.
So, I figured that this time, I need to finish the whole site and release the whole site all at once to avoid any non-matching pages.
The current store is already indexed. The new store will simply replace it, and I will be retaining page names, along with much of their content, so no worries there.

That is funny! We are doing reverse way. I have been doing custom shopping cart program from many other companies for years and have decided not to write shopping cart code myself any more and to use open source shopping cart!
I find marketing my store and decide what to sell are the most difficult things to do. How do you marketing your store?
I think I discuss this in email off line.

We are opposites on deciding what to sell too! In my niche, most sites offer a limited selection, so I offer a wider selection! Most sites carry one brand, but I have been carrying two, with a limited selection of others. But, of the two largest, the one bought the other out, so more sites will more easily be able to offer both, which means next year I will have to work on expanding what I carry from other vendors.
I received your eMail, so I’ll discuss those other things there.
