Make money online + made in China (2) – Show me the money

In the previous post “Make money online + made in China – Lie to survive“, I mentioned that Chinese take “Losing FACE” issues seriously. They would rather lie than loosing their face. However, it’s just the common facts. It doesn’t imply that all Chinese are liars.

Doing business with Chinese manufacture is tough in many cases. They want your money so badly. In some case, “Show me the money” is the key to make a done deal.

As I said earlier, there are rich and poor people in China. Regardless who they are, they love to be rich. They want your money. In my case, I want to buy some “Made in China” products and sell them online. So you have to do your home work to find where and who are the best manufactures to product your products. Take cloth for example. You can find more than one manufactures producing exactly same product with same brand. They will give you different price. So you have to research and negotiate with them to find your best deal.

Outsourcing and sub-contract is very common in China. Many manufactures can’t handle the huge contract themselves, so they outsource to their sub-contractors. This is the primary reason that quality is out of controls. Let’s assume that you have found three manufactures that produce the same product, which you would like to sell. You need to do your home work or just talk to them few times. Each time, you talk to different person. As I post in the previous post that Chinese sometime lies. So you will get different answer from different staff in the same company.

Chinese like to buy goods with cash. Remember that there is no return policy. Once you got your goods and pay in full, you are on your own. Nowadays, they have better bank system that you can just do wire transfer with a little fee. One of the ways to show them that you really want to buy their products is to show them you got $$$$ (cash). Cash means sudden profit to Chinese. In most of case, they will drop the price because you show them your buying-intention.

Showing that you have cash to buy their goods will give you better chance to get really good deals. However, you need to be very careful and watch your back. Many buy got robbed after they left the store or manufacture warehouse. People are watching you when you show off your money.

So my suggestion is this. Showing them you got money without showing your cash. Just tell them that “I will pay you either with bank or cash.” They will ask you how much you would like to order today. You just tell them that “If I like your products and price, I would love to buy more than you expect.” This works almost every time. If you really buy a lot, you can get even more discounts. The discount system in China is nearly ridiculous weird.

I will talk about how the discount pricing works in China in the later post.

Wow, that’s a great post. I actually met a guy a while back who does a lot of business in China, and he said that they (Chinese) will lie about nearly everything, and even if you catch them in a lie, they will never concede. He toured factories in China only to later learn that the people who gave him the tour were not the owners, and had no authority to engage in business.

That’s exactly what I have experienced before. That’s one of the reasons that I will be very careful when I deal with Chinese.
