Personally, I love travel and taking photos. Travel around the world is my dream. I have been working so hard for years, now it’s time to pick up my backpack and travel to China again for 2007. Last year in June 2006, my dear wife and I both quit our job and backpack travel to Taiwan, Hong Kong and China for 7 months. We came back to US in January 2007. It was an awesome trip. It’s not as luxury as many people do, but it’s a self-tour journey. It’s the longest vacation in my life.
From August 7th 2007, I won’t be able to write any post and reply comments for days and hopefully not for months. I am sure to post some interesting photos whenever I can. I will be sure to bring more souvenirs back as well.
Now. It’s a hot summer again. It’s the best time to do backpack travel, so we don’t need to carry heavy winter coat. We don’t have plan and we don’t know where we will be going. We don’t know how long we will be traveling this time. We stay at one place as long as we like. There is no rush, no push, and no worry. It’s the best way to enjoy my life with my lovely wife.
I still remember one of the success entrepreneur said in a conference that you are not success if you only work for money. To be a true success entrepreneur, you have to know how to balance your life between work and family.
It makes you no success entrepreneur, if you are just a slave of your fortune.
You need to make your money work for you. I think I finally understand that now! When I come back, I will work even harder. Most importantly, I will work even smarter!
After all, money is not everything, but money can give you a lot of things. My suggestions to my viewers are “Saving is as important as investing.” Make your money work for you!
Excellent reminder. Thanks.
And have fun on your trip.
Sounds like an amazing time. I have been planning to do something like this (backpacking) for a few months now. I just need to decide on where to go and when the best time to go would be (my girlfriend doesn’t have such an open schedule)
I was thinking places like Thailand, China, Australia, or one of the countries mentioned in “the 4-hour workweek”.
I’ll be looking forward to seeing pictures of the trip… I’m always interested in stuff like this.
Have fun!
@Jason:
Thank you! I sure will share some fun with you when I come back.
@Derek Beau:
Thanks! I have the same thoughts for over 10 years, but it has never happened until 2006. So if you like to backpack travel, you better do it as soon as you can. When you are getting older … Man! That is tougher and tougher.
Keep me post if you ever go on your tour!
Have fun on your trip!
I like the photo. Is it one of yours?
@dcr:
Thanks! That was one of the photos I took in the Yellow mountain in China last year. You can find more photos about the number one mountain in China below.
Huang Shan, China – #1 yellow mountain – a must hike mountain for hiker
Thanks for the link. You have a number of great photos in the slideshow there.
Thanks for sharing. Before your post, the only mountain in China I was familiar with was White Cloud Mountain in Guangzhou, as I used to keep White Cloud Mountain Fish (a.k.a. White Cloud Mountain Minnows) when I was a kid. I still have one, though it is unrelated to the ones I had years ago.
@dcr:
I don’t remember white cloud mountain, but I think it’s beautiful. If you even get chance to go to China. You should not miss Yellow Mountain.
Terence, I don’t believe you…you cannot go that long without saying something! I’ll miss you, but wish you and your wife Godspeed as you live out such an amazing life experience. Me? I’ll still be here in little old Missouri typing away! xo
@Stacey:
Doesn’t matter where you are, you always have your lovely other half!
I will try to post photos here. Well. I already have plan to bring something back for you. I bet you will like it!
Take a very good care!
I have hit a point where I will need a long trip soon too. You are absolutely right about the golden handcuffs of corporate work. It keeps you working while people at the top are enjoying their free time.
Enjoy the good trip Terence. I am sure you are going to get lots of good use out of that D70s! Or was it a D70?
And do post photos when you get back!
@Billy:
That’s right. You are just making your corporation executives’ life better. So you either be your own boss or just be someone’s boss.
Good luck to your log trip!
@Ian Lee:
Thanks! I am using D70S. It’s a great camera, but it’s already old model now. I will post photos on my blog whenever I can. Just keep your eyes open!
You are very brave to just put everything on hold and go travelling like that. I admire you for it. I am really going to miss your daily posts though. You should think about getting some guest bloggers to fill in a bit.
@Janet:
I am going to miss your delicious foods as well. I think we all deserve to take a break to fulfill our dream. I thought about the guest blogger, however, that won’t be my personal blog any more. I like the personal touch even I am away from it. I just don’t know if you will be willing to let someone cook for you blog. I don’t think there is anyone can do better job than your cooking.
I am already hungry now! Take a good care! I will catch up with your delicious foods later!
Thanks Terence! I will keep you in my reader, so if you do manage to blog from China, I won’t miss your posts!
