Oh, and thanks for sharing!

Kind of a shady way of doing it, but still a great idea none the less.

@Terence … Same here .. I am also no believer in Alexa rank .. as I cant understand the thing that it Uses alexa users to rate my website and not other users. moreover it seems redirecting your website through alexa , might drop your google page rank ….

Thank you for visiting.
I don’t think redirect your web site with Alexa will lower your Google Page Ranking. The traffic is not controlled by Google and no one will use Alexa redirect to link to your web site except yourself.
You are the only one who dare to use Alexa redirect. Google don’t even monitor the redirect in the Alexa toolbar, so I am not worry about the page rank.
I do care a little bit about Google Page rank, but it doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t mean you will have traffic. It will just mean that you have a lot of backlinks to your web site.
Good quality content is the key to drive traffic. Why PORN business is making money while some of them have PR0?
People will know your web site not because your Alexa Traffic Ranking or Google Page Ranking, if you market it right.

@terence , I agree with you ..that only person using the re-direct will be me
..
Am not a SEO guru .. so i had my own misconceptions , Actually Alexa ranking cant help you in getting traffic ( I am sure of that :-D), but google page rank can get that for you as page rank also decides where your page sits in a google search query ( am not sure, but that what i think ). So it can get you some traffic. Correct me if I am wrong

I don’t think Google page rank will directly affect your search result. It depends on your keywords. I have some pages come up number 1 in Google search and few number 1 on Google blog search. Those keywords are popular, while I only have PR1. I don’t care too much about PR and Alexa traffic ranking, because they currently don’t bring me traffic.
Thanks!

Do you know link StumbleUpon give us is not valid xhtml? To validate, you have to change it “&” to “&”
wrong:
http://www.stumbleupon.com/submit?url=[Replaced with your blog URL]&title=[Replaced with your blog title]”
correct: [change “&” to “&”]
http://www.stumbleupon.com/submit?url=[Replaced with your blog URL]&title=[Replaced with your blog title]”

July 23rd, 2007 at 9:18 pm
So are you basically getting people to stumble your alexa redirect URL? Is that how this works or have I missed something?
July 23rd, 2007 at 9:26 pm
car News Guy:
I don’t think you can stumble on your redirect URL. It’s basically copy the script on to you web site and tell people how you increase by loading that script. When people click on it. It redirect to alexa.
Now I find that you can do so by just insert the Alexa badge. The script I did does help a lot at beginning.
July 29th, 2007 at 11:36 pm
This is a pretty good idea. I stumbled you with the link you have. Unfortunately this would be too off topic for me to do in my blog. Good idea though
July 30th, 2007 at 12:01 am
@Crystal:
Not to worry about doing this on your blog. If you have quality content, people will come.

I Agree : StumbleUpon Traffic = Great Alexa Rank!. But what for alexa rank ?
September 7th, 2007 at 1:52 am
@Pramudita:
With a good Alexa traffic ranking, you can easily get a higher pay-per-click advertisement rate on your site. It basically means that you have good traffic with fair amount of viewers everyday. So you will be able to make more money off your advertisement on your site.

This is great. Glad I … ahem … stumbled across it because I don’t like installing that stumbleupon toolbar and I really think they should make it easier for people without the toolbar to submit links.

@Game:
That’s right. Using stumbleUpOn toolbar is sometimes pain in the neck. With the little tool, I can stumble page without extra tool bar.

Mr. Chang:
How come when I click on your graphic of StumbleUpOn + Alexa logos (above), in the body of your post, I get an error message “http 404″? The link doesn’t work.
I checked the source code on this blog page and the html code for this graphic/logo looks different than the html code you are asking us to copy to our site. I copied that html code to my blog and followed your instructions and I still got the same “http 404″ error message when I tried it on my site. What’s going on? Is anyone else having this problem? Please help, I would like to experiment with this ASAP. Thanks…

@New Blogger:
As I said in other post, Alexa has change the way to not accept the redirect URL. Please take time to join some great social network such as StumbleUpOn and make some great friends there. Join my friends list and let me know what page you want me to review.
Good luck and thank you for visiting.

Oh, an additional quick question: in a more recent blog entry, you mention that things have changed with regard to how alexa ranks using stumbleupon. since i’m so new to the seo game (and my site is new and somewhat specialized) what might be a good way to link with others quickly to get traffic started within days? (I have been thinking about forming a ’social bookmark club’ where everyone links to most every page on everyone elses’ website. What do you think? Could this work? And, could this work fast? Thanks Randall
