In the past few weeks, I have tried to increase my web site traffic. I have tried many ways to improve my wordpress blog and also tried to increase my Alexa traffic ranking. I have not really done anything really dramatic to increase my web site traffic. However, with some improvement and tricks, I do see my Alexa traffic ranking dramatically increase. Well. You can argue with me that those changes I made don’t do any good to my web site traffic. I can’t argue with you, because I have done some many minor changes and joined many communities. My traffic ranking was 5.5+ Million. So any changes will make it look dramatic. However, after I did a post few days ago. Increase Alexa traffic ranking by 5 million points in 10 days - Just Stumble! My Alexa traffic ranking went up to 1.2 Million. It’s still not good. However, my web site traffic boots dramatically.

Well. Again, I am not an Alexa traffic ranking fan, because I don’t believe it. I can now see how easy that I can manipulate the traffic ranking. My traffic is still sucks because my site does not have high Google page ranking or no where to be found on the Internet. The domain name, which shares the same name of the famous Mission Impossible II movie producer. Terence Chang, the name itself is well known by Hollywood. I sometimes got email from people who I have no idea, asking me to help them get into movie business. Read “About” to see who I really am.

Anyway, I was shocked that few hours after I post the Increase Alexa traffic ranking by 5 million points in 10 days - Just Stumble! entry, I found myself on the number 1 spot of Google search result page with search keyword “Increase Alexa traffic ranking“. And 13 spot with “Alexa Traffic Ranking“, which is now at top of the second pages (21st). I got a comment saying that it’s not bad for a new blog.

Am I just lucky? Yes. I definitely think so. This make me believe that how many people are chasing after the Alexa traffic ranking. I got at least 50 unique user visit my page with those keywords in one day. So my web site traffic suddenly goes crazy. I am glad that my ANHosting.com did not disappoint me. It did not crash.

So what is the trick for making that happen? You can go to the post (Click to read) and search keyword “Alexa traffic ranking” and count how many times it appears in the post. Note, none of the them have anchor link. It’s just a straight text. I am not the SEO expert, who can just tell you what was happening.

All I can say is that I pay attention on the keywords I used in the post, in the description meta tag and keyword meta keywords. Also you will definitely need the Google site map plug-in for wordpress. The plug-in will automatically ping Google Blog Search right after publish your post. So in about 2 hours, you can search your post on Google.

After all, I will still insist that Alexa traffic ranking doesn’t mean that you will get traffic. It gets boost up because you have quality content and backlink, so people come to your site and keep coming back. It will them generate the traffic that is monitored by Alexa traffic ranking service.

Now. I am thinking to experiment my theory and practice the search engine optimization. How about I use keywords like “Make money online“, which is used by the number one “Make money online” web giant “John Chow“. Can I become #1 spot on top of John Chow’s web site? Be the number one out of 179,000,000 web pages?
