(mt) Media Temple Customer Referral Program – Better than nothing

Written by Terence Chang on June 14th, 2007

Just found a small post on MediaTemple.net’s knowledgebase page. It says that existing customer can make profit by referring new customer. The post was created on May 9th, 2007. I have never heard about that offer. So I guess not a lot of people knowing this offer. So what exactly the referral program can offer to the existing customer? Is it worth? What’s the catch? You can find the page from the following link.

You simply put a link on your web site with referral URL and your primary domain name registered at Mediatemple.net. You will get referral fee whenever new customer signup for 60 days. The URL look like this.

http://www.mediatemple.net/go/order/?refdom=YOURDOMAINNAME.COM

This is how their referral program works.

After the referred customer is with us for 60 days, a one time credit equal to their first month’s hosting fee will be credited to the referring customer’s account automatically.

Example: If you had a (gs) Grid-Service account, and you referred a customer that signed up for a (dv) Extreme monthly account, you would then be credited $150 after that customer was hosted with us for 60 days.

Did it mention the Extreme Monthly Account, which costs US$150/month. If the customer signup the GS (Grid Services) plan and pay for $20/month. Then you only get $20. Well. Comparing with my current hosting company ANHosting.com, Mediatemple.net’s offer is just not attractive enough. Well. It’s better than nothing. Isn’t it?
