For every small business owners, cost and recovery are one of the important keys to succeed in their small business operation. Most of the small business now have high speed Internet access from their small office or home office. A cost-effective way to operate the day to day jobs are also important. Can you do it with as little as no cost?

Google has the answers.

  1. Google GMail - Email is the most important communication tools now for business operation. Pretty much everyone you meet on the street have at least one email addresses. Phone and regular mail are no longer the first choose of communication. GMail provides you virtually no limited on how many email you can store. It also provides your 20MB attachment for large content. You can check your GMail with your favorite client software such as open source Thunderbird or any other software support POP3 email. GMail allows you to sort and group your contact and category of your emails. GMail also provides your filters to filter out most of the spam emails.
  2. Google Calendar - One of the best application Google provides. The Calendar gives your business the power of sharing and collaboration. It’s one of the best know AJAX application on the Internet. You can share your company calendar with your employees and co-workers. You can subscribe or embedded your calendar to your web site for your client or customer to see. You can include many public calendar or create many calendar for different purpose in different colors. It’s one of the best application you can use to schedule your event or company operation. It also allows your to search your event very quickly.
  3. Google Alert - Want to know what your competitors are up to? Setup a Google alert and watch what they are doing. For example, you can create an alert with their company name of product name as keywords. Google alert will automatically send you an alert whenever the keywords are post on blog, web sites or press release. It’s always a good idea to be informed that what others are doing.
  4. Google Documents - This is one of the application that scares Microsoft. It will replace your Microsoft Office Excel and Word application. It provides your almost everything you need to create document, excel and charting. It save your few hundreds US dollars to create the document and share with others. You can always download or upload your newest changes. Just one drawbacks, you won’t be able to see it while off-line. However, you can download the open source office suite from OpenOffice.org to create your Word and Excel compatibility file and sync with Google Documents. It’s give a totally free way to manage your document and excel sheet.
  5. Google Reader - While minding your own business, you will want to know what is going on in the entire world. RSS feed is the most efficient way to aggregate all of the news or article into one place. There are many RSS reader out there. Google’s RSS reader gives you the flexibility to search inside your list. It’s also open the content on the fly without open the destination site. You can subscribe as many feed as you wish. It automatically recognize the feed type.
  6. Google Blogger - Want to publish your company new beside on your web site? Now, many search engine optimization guru are using Google’s blogger to post their SEO related article and getting higher page ranking on search engine. Some people said that 80% of the blog on Blogger.com are spam and will not be indexed by Google. Well. That is not entirely true. Google now owns Blogger. As long as you have quality content on your blogger.com and you keep it fresh, you will get traffic and get higher page ranking. It’s one of the ways to lead traffic to your small business.
  7. Google Webmaster Tools - One of the best and quickest way to get list on Google is to use Google’s webmaster tools. It allows you to claim you web site and submit your site map to Google for better index. It shows your page index status and allows you to remove unwanted files or pages from Google’s index. You can do this all by yourself without pay SEO or search engine submitting company to do that for you. It’s free and quick.
  8. Google Analytics - One other way to get your web site indexed faster is to user Google Analytics. It’s web master tools to analyze your web site health. It shows you which link is most clicked and detail information about who clicks and what they clicks on. By using Analytics tool, it will get your web site indexed faster.
  9. Google Products (formal Froogle) - Selling on eBay, having your own online store? Export your product list to Google Products database, it allows millions potential to search and discover your products. Most of the shopper now are doing price search prior making purchase. So you get chance to expose your products to the world.
  10. Google Photos - PicasaWeb Album - List items on ebay? Don’t want to pay for Photos gallery fee on eBay? You can upload your images to Google’s PicasaWebAlbum and copy the link of the image and post on eBay. It’s cost you nothing.
