Thank you for stopping by and providing the information. Your solution works only if you customize your home button. If you want to show just a blank page everytime you open a new tab. You still need to adjust your registry.

Anyway, the best solution is not to use IE at all. My favorite browser are FireFox, Google Chrome, Opera, and Safari.

FIXED! – You’ve opened a new tab

No need to edit your registry, just follow these steps in IE7 or IE8.

To Open your Home Page for New Tabs instead of Blank Page:
+ Set your home page
- Click on the Tools menu in Internet Explorere and click on Internet Options
- Make sure that you are on the General tab and that the page you want to use is set as your home page
+ Set new Tabs to use your home page
- Click on the Settings button in the Tabs section (near the bottom of the dialogue box)
- In the new Tabbed Browser Settings dialogue box, ticking the Open home page for new tabs instead of a blank page checkbox
- Click on OK to save and exit all boxes
+ Stop the “You’ve opened a new tab” page from being displayed instead of your home page by ticking the Dont show this page again checkbox

Registry fix worked great.I use Firefox as my default browser,but some sites I need to access for work will not render properly in Firefox,I need IE for them.

I think your best solution is to NOT use IE. Use FireFox, Apple Safari or Google Chrome browser will save you big time. IE is piece of junk in my experience.

I just want to see Google’s homepage whenever I open a new tab. I have used the reset function a million times. That takes me to a Microsoft Run Once page that won’t accept my choices. I then use ComboFix to get runonce out of my tabs but then I’m stuck with the Welcome to Tab.-page.

I’m so glad I found this. I have this issue after resetting IE7. The welcome page won’t go away. What should the key value be if one wants the same homepage on all tabs? The new key should be: ShowHomepageForNewTab? ….. Or? A little help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thank you! I could never get the tabs to work properly so I just ignored them. But when I set up my mother’s computer, it worked perfectly. After some websearch I found your website and your solution worked perfectly.

Yes I have had the chance to use Firefox, but not very extensively. I did use the Opera browser for the built-in torrent engine, pop3 mail integration, widgets, speed-dial, and security. I did not give Firefox much of a chance, therefore I might have missed some key features, I will take a gander at the site and see what I did miss, but I would like to talk more about the two browsers email me since you are a mod and can see email addy’s…

I am glad that you got the problem solved. Have you tried FireFox browser? I don’t like Opera personally. Firefox has a lot more add-ons to help my web surfing. Thank you for stopping by!
